Q:

How old are the donors for Lonza’s dermal cells from neonatal donors?

A:

The neonatal foreskin tissue used to isolate Lonza’s dermal cells from neonatal donors is almost always collected within the first few days after birth, and at most a week or two after birth. At most U.S. hospitals, circumcisions are performed before the mother and child are sent home, which is usually less than 48 hours after birth. We also obtain tissue from a hospital in California, where circumcision is performed at a doctor's appointment after the infant is initially sent home from the hospital, but this would still be within a week or two of birth. Very rarely would a circumcision be performed on a 3 or 4 year-old child in the US.
