What media can the CD14+ Monocytes be cultured in to maintain the monocyte phenotype?

A:

CD14+ Monocytes can be cultured in IMDM + 10% FBS to help maintain the monocyte phenotype. The cells will slowly become adherent but it can take a week to get good adherence. M-CSF (10 ng/ml) will induce a little proliferation and increase adherence. However, adherence is the first step for the cells becoming macrophages.
