Is it necessary to remove antibiotics for some time from the cell culture medium before taking sample to test medium for presence of mycoplasma using the MycoAlert® Mycoplasma Detection Kit?

A:

The MycoAlert® Mycoplasma Detection Assay was designed to “fit” in with normal tissue culturing practices. It was developed in fully supplemented culture media containing antibiotics and DOES NOT require a period of culture without antibiotics before assay.
