Q:

With regards to mesenchymal stem cells, what are "Dexter cultures"?

A:

Dexter culture refers to the method of isolating stem cells proposed by Dexter et al in their 1977 paper: Dexter TM, Allen TD, Lajtha LG. Conditions controlling the proliferation of haemopoietic stem cells in vitro. JCell Physiol 1977; 91: 335–344.

The method is typically considered the original method for isolating bone marrow stem cells and most claim that purity using this method is up to 95%.
