Q:

Where are Lonza’s dermal fibroblasts (NHDF) isolated from?

A:

Lonza’s offers dermal fibroblasts from both adult and neonatal donors.

Lonza’s adult dermal fibroblasts (NHDF-Ad) are usually isolated from tissue obtained from elective cosmetic surgical procedures. Generally, these procedures are abdominoplasties (“tummy tuck”), however, occasionally, the tissue is obtained from other elective procedures including (but not limited to) reduction mammoplasty (“breast reduction”), thigh lift, or Brachioplasty (“arm lift”). Occasionally (but rarely) Lonza may also obtain skin tissue from cadavers.

Lonza’s neonatal dermal fibroblasts (NHDF-Neo) are always isolated from neonatal foreskin tissue.
