Q:

When preforming Lonza Bacterial Endotoxin Test (BET), LAL or PyroGene™ recombinant Factor C (rFC), endotoxin detection kit to establish the potency of Endotoxin Challenge Vials (ECV) can I use a syringe to reconstitute the ECV and other assay reagents?

A:

We do not recommend that a needle and syringe be used to reconstitute ECV or other LAL reagents. The plungers of plastic syringes are generally coated with a lubricant and tend to interfere with the assay. We recommend the tops be removed and diluent added with a pipette.
