Q:

What is the difference between the EGM™ and EGM™-MV Growth Media? What is the difference between the EGM™-2 and EGM™-2MV Growth Media?

A:

Lonza endothelial cell media ending with –MV (such as the EGM™-MV and EGM™-2MV Growth Media) are typically designated for use with microvascular endothelial cells (with some exceptions).

Lonza endothelial cell media not ending with –MV (such as the EGM™ and EGM™-2 Growth Media) are typically designated for use with large vessel endothelial cells (with some exceptions).

The major difference between the microvascular endothelial cell media (EGM™-MV and EGM™-2MV Growth Media) and the large vessel endothelial cell media (EGM™ and EGM™-2 Growth Media) is the concentration of fetal bovine serum. The microvascular endothelial cell media (EGM™-MV and EGM™-2MV Growth Media) will contain fetal bovine serum at a final concentration of 5% whereas the large vessel endothelial cell media (EGM™ and EGM™-2 Growth Media) will contain fetal bovine serum at a final concentration of 2%.
