Q:

How is the disease state for Lonza’s diseased airway cells determined?

A:

The tissue received for all of Lonza’s diseased airway cells are obtained from donors which were diagnosed by an accredited physician prior to death.

Frequently, Lonza will obtain information on medications taken related to the disease which will help confirm the disease. Occasionally, but rarely, Lonza will obtain information on how the disease was diagnosed prior to death. With limited exceptions, Lonza does not test the diseased cells as part of our standard Quality Control testing in a manner which would validate the disease diagnosis.
