Cytotrophoblast, human

The cytotrophoblast (or layer of Langhans) is the inner layer of the trophoblast, they are stem cells in the chorionic villi. During differentiation, mononuclear cytotrophoblasts fuse together into the multinucleated syncytiotrophoblasts.
