Q:

I am using your ProSieve™ Color Protein Markers and the molecular weights (MW) of my protein of interest is not what I expected when compared to the ProSieve™ Markers. Why is this?

A:

The proteins in our ProSieve™ Color Markers are made of proteins that are individually prestained using colored dyes.

The level of dye bound can affect the migration of the protein and this can vary slightly lot to lot. Therefore, it is important to check the lot specific reference card that is supplied with each marker for the bands apparent molecular weights (how they run compared to unstained proteins of known size.)

For the most accurate MW determination, be sure to use unstained protein markers.
